PBR: Why did you choose Hutchinson CC?

Hutch has a well established program down there and they compete at a high level. I love the coaching staff and I have a former teammate and friend of mine, Will Reetz, down there that I’ve heard nothing but great things from. Love the competitive culture they have. Also the opportunity to play with one of my best friends Drew Reetz again.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Cloud County CC, SCC, Iowa Western

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?

They saw me in the summer down in Wichita and might have made it to a game or two up in Omaha. I talked on the phone a couple times with the coaching staff and really connected well. I actually got a call from them at a football team dinner on a Thursday where I set up a visit/workout but on Friday night I ended up tearing my ACL playing football. I was a little scared that my offer would be pulled and I'd lose that opportunity, but the injury changed nothing for the coaches and I thought that was really cool and it spoke to their character.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

I would say there were a lot of factors that went into it. I love the culture and the competitiveness down there. The opportunity to go in there and compete at a high level and to be apart of that culture. Also, the opportunity to play with the Reetz boys again was a huge bonus too!

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?

There are so many coaches, teachers, and mentors that have made me who I am today, and I can’t thank them enough. But I would say the people who have helped me the MOST without a doubt is my parents. They have spent so much time and money to give me the opportunity to play the game that I love. They spent my childhood traveling all around the country just so I could play baseball. My dad even built a shed with a batting cage in our backyard for me to use and I can’t even begin to think about how many balls he’s thrown to me over the years. I can’t thank them enough for the things they’ve sacrifice for me. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?

They like my bat. I’m going to come into the Fall and compete. I could end up in the middle infield or even a corner outfield spot, it all depends on how hard I work. But I’m definitely looking forward to the opportunity to go in and compete right away.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?

Honestly I would have to say the 2018 Spring Season. We were literally the absolute closet you could ever get to a State Title and that one still stings, always will. But the bond that 2018 team had was a special one and showing up to the ballpark everyday with that group of guys was a tremendous honor. The seniors were special, especially for me because I got to work the middle infielder with one of my best friends Austin Schultz. I’ve learned a lot from him in terms of hitting, fielding, and the mental aspect of baseball, it definitely was a blast playing with him.  And it was the last opportunity I got to share the same field with my brother, so overall that season was just so special and it's definitely one of the highlights of my baseball career.

PBR: Who is the best player you have competed against?

Cam Fredrick. I Love the way that kid plays the game, he is a true competitor.
