Prep Baseball Report Nebraska's Elite 50 event took place on Sunday, May 20, 2018. The event was held at Westside High School in Omaha, NE. The event featured select prospects from the 2019, 2020 and 2021 grad classes; and included many breakout performances from the player's in attendance. Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches; while also playing 14 innings. 

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the PBR NE Elite 50

As we drill down into the statistics: (40 players in attendance)

+   30 players ran sub-7.2 60's.
+   27 players recorded 85+ mph exit velocities
+   13 players recorded 80+ mph infield throws
+   11 players recorded 80+ mph outfield throws
+   6 catchers recorded 70+ mph throws to second base
+   6 catchers recorded sub-2.1 pop times
+   19 pitchers were 80+ mph on the mound

2019 Infield Reports

Cameron Frederick SS / 2B / Lincoln Southwest, NE / 2019

5-foot-11, 175 pound infielder ran a 6.53 60 yard sprint. Ranked #8 in the Nebraska 2019 rankings. Twitchy athletic build with wide shoulders. Longer swing, hard line drive contact, works mostly away, trouble at times getting to balls in. Posted an 93 mph exit velocity off a tee.  Smooth athletic actions in the infield, fields out front, has carry and throws accurately across. Topped out at 84 mph across the infield. Above average athlete that has a chance to stay in the middle of the infield at the next level.

 

 

Cade Argo 2B / OF / Norris, NE / 2019

5-foot-10, 185 pound infielder ran a 6.78 60 yard sprint. Ranked #21 in Nebraska 2019 rankings. Led the state in Home Runs in the spring season and tied the Class B record for RBIs in a season. Compact build with present strength. Gap to gap contact at the plate, hard line drive contact to pull side. Posted an 92 mph exit velocity. Went 1-4 with a walk in the game portion of the Elite 50. Topped out at 76 mph across the infield, projects to 2nd base or the outfield with current actions.

 

 

Conner Barnett OF / 2B / Papillion-LaVista, NE / 2019

6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting infielder ran a 6.5 60 yard sprint. Ranked #15 in Nebraska 2019 rankings. Lean frame, some strength throughout. Could carry an additional 10 pounds. At the plate, hitchy load, consistent hard line drive contact, sprays all fields. Posted an 85 mph exit velocity off a tee. Avg. hands in the infield, shows athleticism and soft glove, sporadic accuracy. Topped out at 84 mph across the infield. Hit. 394 in the lead off spot this spring with 39 hits. Went 2-3 in the game portion of the Elite 50 with two singles. 

 

 

Drew Reetz SS / 2B / Elkhorn South, NE / 2019

5-foot-11, 180 pound infielder ran a 6.59 60 yard sprint. Ranked #5 in Nebraska 2019 rankings. Compact athletic build with present strength. Shows pop to pull side, gap to gap approach, stays on the ball through contact, uses whole field. Posted an 86 mph exit velocity. Went 2-2 in his at bats during game action with a pair of singles. Short repeatable actions in the infield, shows athleticism, has carry and accuracy, above average arm that topped out at 86 mph across. Hit .400 this spring with 9 doubles, and a team leading 26 RBIs.

 

 

Jake Gish SS / 2B / Millard South, NE / 2019

6-foot, 185 pound infielder ran a 6.7 60 yard sprint. Ranked #4 in Nebraska 2019 rankings. Hitch in load, strong, sneaky pop. Middle/ pull approach. Top hitting prospect in the 2019 class. Has the ability to consistently barrel up baseballs.  Went 1-5 in game action. Hit .321 with 5 double, 4 triples, and 7 home runs this spring. Average actions in the infield, above average carry and accuracy to target. Topped out at 84 mph across the infield.

 

 

Nolan Brown SS / RHP / Waverly, NE / 2019

5-foot-10, 185 pound two way player ran a 6.83 60 yard sprint. Ranked #18 in the Nebraska 2019 rankings. Compact physical build with present strength. Hitching load, hard contact when on time, gap to gap approach, line drive & ground ball contact during round of BP. Went 1-3 with a triple in plate appearances at the Elite 50. Posted an 90 mph exit velocity off a tee. Solid all around actions in the infield, fields out front, above average arm that topped out at 82 mph across. On the mound, topped out at 80 mph with his fastball. Fastball gets on a downhill plane, occasional slight cut action, avg spin and shaped on 12/6 breaking ball.

 

 

Treyton Randall 1B / RHP / Lincoln Southwest, NE / 2019

6-foot-1, 225 pound two way player ran his fastball up to 86 mph at the Elite 50. Effort in delivery. Slight run and sinking to fastball. Above average spin and shape on 10/6 shaped breaking ball. 7.19 60 runner. Posted an 94 mph exit velocity off a tee. Bat gets through the zone quick, gap to gap approach. Hard contact to pull side. Projects to first base, playable actions. Topped out at 85 mph across the infield.
