Nebraska Spring Preview: Pre-Event Notes

On Monday (Presidents' Day), Feb. 19, 2018, Prep Baseball Report Nebraska will be hosting its second annual Nebraska Spring Preview event at the Ultimate Baseball Academy. This event is open to all high school classes, between 2018 and 2021, and has over 90 players signed up to showcase their tools prior to the 2018 High School season.
When looking at this years roster there is a trio of uncommitted 2019s to keep an eye out for this Spring with SS Drew Reetz (Elkhorn South), LHP Logan Van Treeck (Lincoln Southeast), and LHP Nate Whitehill (Papillion LaVista). Whitehill has reportly been back up to the mid 80's with his fastball recently while Reetz, ranked No. 9 in Nebraska has the athleticism and bat to play in himself into the middle of a stacked line-up for Elkhorn South. Van Treeck has been pitching for Varsity since his freshman year has a projectable frame and clean arm action.
With the recent news out of Kearney with the baseball program being cut after this season, four of their 2018 commits will be in attendance. C/OF Zane Schmidt (Kearney), RHP Peyton Wendell (Millard West), RHP/INF Ethan Peterson (Elkhorn South) and INF Camden Brichacek (Lincoln Pius X). Along with these four prospects in 2018 class, uncommitted 2018 RHP Max Mandall (Creighton Prep) will be in attendance. Mandall popped on the recruiting radar late when his fastball was up 87 mph multiple times in the Legion state tournament.
