PBR JUCO: Opening Weekend Draft Buzz

The 2023 JUCO season opened with a bang this past weekend with many of the top-ranked teams and prospects getting loose for what looks to be another exceptional year.

Some notable series included preseason honorable mention South Mountain, AZ with a four-game sweep of No. 8 Salt Lake CC. Right-hander Jaxon Jelkin shoved in the opening game with 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits with six punchouts. He sat 90-91 with run and sink from a low three-quarter release point and a nasty 79-81 mph slider. Jelkin ranks No. 4 overall in our preseason Top 150 JUCO prospect rankings.
