PBR: Why did you choose Nebraska-Omaha?
I chose UNO because it felt like home to me. It gave me the chance to stay in Omaha close to my family. And the coaches made me feel like UNO was my best destination.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Northern Colorado, Johnson County CC, Hutchinson CC, Barton CC, Garden City CC, and Southeastern CC

PBR: Where did the coaching staff first see you? How did your relationship develop with them?
The coaches first saw me at a tournament in Omaha this fall. My relationship with Coach Porter and the other coaches developed through my fall coach Brady Hohl, who played at UNO. From there, the coaches had me come to multiple practices and scrimmages.

PBR: Do you feel relieved now that the process is over and you can just focus on baseball and not deal with everything that goes into picking a school?

It feels great to be done with the process and to just focus on winning another championship with many new guys and then making another spot in regionals.

PBR: Was there one deciding factor that put your choice over the top?

The one deciding factor for me to choose UNO was the chance to stay in Omaha close to my family and the coaches made me feel welcomed that UNO is the best fit for me.

PBR: Who has helped you the most to get to where you are today?
My Grade school coach Frank Scharff taught me all the real mechanics and what pitches would make me a better pitcher. My Prep coach Jerry Wellwood improving all my pitches and making that much of a better pitcher over one varsity year. And of course my dad, Jim Steier, has always been there to make me a better person and player over the years.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? Was it easy/difficult?
I thought the recruiting process was very difficult. Going to some places that took a long drive took a way some weekends, but the choice was right in Omaha and I'm relieved it is over.

PBR: What plans does the coaching staff have in store for you in your freshman season?
The coaching staff's plans for me next year are to be in the pitching staff as a relief pitcher.

PBR: What is your most memorable baseball moment to date?
My most memorable moment was in August winning regionals without losing a game and being able to go to Shelby, NC for the World Series.

PBR: Who is the best player that you have competed against?
The best player I have competed against is easily Cole Stobbe, he was unreal. However, having Brandon Bena on my team was great, he was a huge presence at the plate and in centerfield and easily the best player I've ever played with.
