Shooter Hunt
National Crosschecker

On the Hunt was on the scene in West Palm Beach to check out some of the top 2022 players in the country compete against one another. Below is just a quick glimpse at some of the talented prospects who stood out. There is plenty more 2022 coverage on the way in coming weeks as PBR will roll out the initial overall rankings that have been put together by the hundreds of scouts and boots on the ground that are constantly out evaluating.

Calvert Clark OF / RHP / Charlotte Christian, NC / 2022

Clark oozes projection on the diamond, and his 6-foot-4, 175-pound frame will almost assuredly pack on a significant amount of muscle in coming years, which will make him one of the most sought after recruits in the country moving forward. The long and lean right-handed hitting outfielder has an advanced approach at the plate, and his ability to track pitches at a young age already stands out. Balanced throughout, Clark utilizes a toe tap stride that separates his hands effortlessly down and back before he rips the barrel through the zone on a flat path. He had no trouble adjusting to spin, and in fact, showcased the ability to recognize it early, and put good swings on mistakes. His barrel lags in the zone as he impacts the baseball with a gap to gap approach that should quickly progress into more power as he gets stronger. Overall, Clark shows signs of becoming a middle of the order bat in the future, and will be fun to watch progress over the next few years.
