2026 NJ Senior Games: Quick Hits

On August 5th, our staff hosted the NJ Senior Games at FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ. Over 40 players made it out to this event, providing us with updated looks and a new list of players to follow in New Jersey.

We begin our post-event content today with our quick hits from the event, highlighting some of the notable players from the day and their numbers.

POSITION PLAYERS

+ SS Joe Kealy (Chathan, 2027) The athletic, lean framed shortstop stood at 6-foot, 160-pounds. Kealy made his Prep Baseball debut at the NJ Senior Games and turned multiple heads during the workout and gameplay portions. A fluid defender that can stick at shortstop at the next level showed confidence in his defensive ability with active footwork and above average hand-eye coordination. Offensively, Kealy syncs up his load utilizing a slight barrel tip with a rearward scap load and gathers weight onto his backside with a toe-tap lift. The swing translated very well into gameplay where he had multiple barrels including a triple into the left-field corner. One of the easiest 98 mph exit velocities our staff saw this summer came off of the bat from Kealy, and we expect that number to increase as he adds more physicality onto his frame.  

+ OF Joey Hanna (Don Bosco Prep, 2027)  A dynamic, hyper-athletic ball player that creates havoc on the base paths. Hanna is a twitchy, lean outfielder that measures at 6-foot, 153-pounds. A standout during gameplay where he produced multiple hits and after every base hit he would proceed to steal second base and then third base during the next batter’s at-bat. He not only showcased his 6.6-6.8 speed but also his baseball IQ picking advantageous counts to steal in while not getting picked off or thrown out. The left-handed hitting outfielder showed limited swing and miss with a twitchy swing that covered the length of the zone well. Hanna has the makings of a late blooming Northeast prospect to follow and make note of. 

2-WAYS

+ OF/RHP Devin Pollock (Passaic Tech, 2027) A loud batting practice caught our initial attention from this physical 5-foot-11, 199-pound outfielder/right-handed pitcher. Pollock led the way with a 102.6 mph exit velocity during his round of BP in the workout portion of the showcase. To follow up his impressive display of power, he stepped on the mound and proved to be a potential 2-way player at the next level. The fastball peaked at 85.1 mph showing life and carry with over 2500 rpm of spin and over 19 inches of vertical break. His only secondary pitch was a high spin slider at 74-77 mph with over 2500 rpm of spin and up to 11 inches of horizontal movement. A very intriguing arsenal with legit swing and miss potential. 

+ LHP/1B Evan Cresthull (Pennsauken, 2027) A top-performing two-way prospect at the NJ Senior Games, Cresthull showed impact both with the bat and on the mound. The 6-foot-3, 233-pound left-handed pitcher/left-handed hitter competed confidently against quality arms and lineups. On the mound, he worked primarily from the stretch with a slow, controlled leg lift and a compact arm swing that kept the baseball hidden. He topped at 83 mph, landing the fastball early for strikes, and paired it with a true 12–6 breaker that tunneled well off the heater. At the plate, Cresthull was one of the few hitters to record multiple knocks, including a hustle double down the right-field line. He creates natural rhythm in the hands with a moderate rearward load, producing a repeatable, accurate swing that stays on plane. A physical two-way follow who continues to trend upward.


PITCHERS

+ RHP Maximilian Buzby (EHT, 2027) Buzby, a recent Winthrop commit, was one of the top arms at the NJ Senior Games. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound right-hander led the event in fastball velocity, touching 88.7 mph. He generates that power through a high leg lift and a moderate back‑hip coil, riding the slope into a strong launch position with real hip‑shoulder separation. The whippy, elastic arm action played throughout his outing, overwhelming hitters while he mixed in enough offspeed to keep them off the upper‑80s heater. For early strikes, the curveball was his most reliable secondary—76–77 mph with 2400+ rpm and consistent shape. He also flashed a firm cutter at 83–85 mph with late glove‑side action that produced weak contact. A long, projectable frame with feel for three pitches and competitive mound presence.

+ RHP Dimitri Romer (Ridge, 2027) The 6-foot-1, 172-pound right-handed pitcher was a standout pitcher in multiple facets during his outing. Romer dominated hitters early with strikes, overwhelmed them mixing between his entire arsenal and collected over a dozen whiffs on his cutter. The fastball sat 85-87 mph and peaked at 87.9 mph showing carry and ride with over 18 inches of IVB. His breaking ball sat in the mid-70s flashing a shorter movement profile which landed in the zone almost 80 percent of the time. Romer’s go-to pitch was the cutter, a pitch he threw over 50 percent of the time, he threw it 79-81 mph consistently with the confidence to land it against all hitters. He worked out of an athletic and fluid operation where he was able to repeat his mechanics giving hitters the same look with every pitch. Keep an eye on this underrated uncommitted RHP from NJ.
