CBA 2, Middletown South 0

Christian Brothers defeated Middletown South 2-0 in last night's Shore Conference Finals held at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood. CBA won the tournament for the third year in a row, and with the win, RHP Luca Dalatri set a new Shore Conference all-time wins mark, with his 35th of his high school career.

According to Shore Sports Network, Dalatri finished his high school career on a remarkable 30-game winning streak, which dates back to the start of his sophomore season.  The North Carolina commit finished his senior season 10-0 with a 0.42 ERA and 118 strikeouts - walking just four in 67 innings. The 6-foot-5 righty finished his high school career at 35-2. In 249 2/3 innings, Dalatri allowed just 140 hits, struck out 370, and walked just 36 batters while pitching to a career 0.67 ERA.

CBA scored their first run in the second inning with an RBI single by Cid Porter (Catholic U commit), which scored senior 1B Kenny Campbell (Lafayette commit) who had doubled earlier. In the fifth, CBA added another run on 2018 Nick Hohenstein's RBI double which brought in 2016 C Brandon Martorano (North Carolina commit).

Midd South's 2017 John Martin was the hard-luck opposing pitcher to Dalatri - going five innings, allowing two earned runs, walking one, and striking out four. Senior lefty Ian Scheuer (Manhattan commit) came in to work a scoreless frame in the sixth.

CBA has won 10 different championships in the last three years: three Monmouth County Tournament Championships, three Shore Conference Tournament Championships, two Class A North division championships, and the NJSIAA overall Non-Public Group A championship in 2015 - a truly remarkable run (Matt Manley, Shore Sports Network, 2016).
