Scouting Report
Parkinson has an athletic 6-foot-1, 185 pound build and the looks of a prototypical division one shortstop. Defensively, he showed a strong arm across the diamond (84 MPH). He has a good approach to fielding the ground ball and displayed slick glove skills. He transfers near his waist and will glove tap when he has time but he does show repeatable, quick transfer skills when he has to make a quick play. He works through the ball well and it jumps out of his hand.
Offensively, Parkinson hits from a slightly open stance and has a short path to the ball with bat speed potential. He has a level plane and some extension but will occasionally pull out of the hitting zone trying to get to his high finish too quickly. If he leveled out more and tried to go with an all-fields, line drive approach, he may see more consistent success at the dish.
