Eastern PA Fall Review Analysis: Infielders

The fall schedule of outdoor PBR events in Pennsylvania concluded this past weekend with the 2016 Eastern PA Fall Review at Widener University. Over 30 prospects from two states gathered to showcase their abilities during the course of two nine-inning games and a showcase. Today we continue our analysis of the prospects in attendance by taking a look at the infielders in attendance.

INFIELDERS

Jarod Bingaman, 2018, SS/3B, Upper Dauphin Area
5-foot-9, 155-pound right-handed hitter continues to show steady strides in his overall game. Junior starts from a from a wide, square stance and initiates his swing from a high hands load with a heel-raise stride. Displayed a solid feel for the barrel during batting practice with an 85 mph bat exit velocity and went 2-for-4 at the plate during game action. Showcased solid feet (7.15 60-yard dash) and soft glove hand with above average arm strength (82 mph). Displayed athletic actions in making the slow roller play look routine and made a highlight reel catch in game action going high in the air at second base to take away a base hit.

Anthony Boccio, 2019, SS/2B, Coatesville Area
5-foot-9, 145-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a short, lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a solid feel for the barrel with a line drive approach while registering a bat exit velocity of 77 mph. Lined the first pitch of the day for a single to right field finishing 2-for-4 at the plate in game one action. Ran a 7.75 60-yard dash and showcased accurate 72 mph arm strength across the diamond during defensive evaluations. Overall game will benefit from physical maturity and continued strength gains.

Justin Byler, 2018, 1B, Warwick
6-foot-4, 185-pound left-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a leg-lift stride. Sits on back side well and gets to extension routinely creating some backspin with a bat exit velocity of 86 mph. Displayed capable defensive actions around the bag at first base and ran a 7.75 60-yard dash.

Tyler Cazille, 2019, 3B, Coatesville Area
5-foot-7, 165-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and uses a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. Displayed a feel for the barrel and a line drive approach with a bat exit velocity of 76 mph. Ran a 7.51 60-yard dash and 75 mph arm strength from a 3/4 arm slot across the diamond from third base. Physical maturity and strength gains will benefit his overall game moving forward.

Joseph Gorla, 2018, SS, Perkiomen Valley
6-foot-2, 195-pound shortstop displayed advanced arm strength (88 mph) with solid carry during defensive evaluations. The junior ran a 7.48 60-yard dash and displayed the ability to play through the baseball. The right-handed hitter starts from a wide, crouched stance and has raised his load position since we saw him last. Displayed a feel for the barrel and a bat exit velocity of 84 mph. Power potential is there especially if he works to better incorporate his lower half and concentrates on not cutting his swing short at times.

Dale Houser, 2018, SS/2B, Donegal
5-foot-10, 160-pounder displays the athleticism to play numerous positions on the diamond. 81 mph arm strength and above average foot speed (6.79 at previous event) will give coaches options at the next level. Primary middle infielder showcased a quick release and the ability to make throws from several arm angles. The right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and initiates his swing with a lift-and-replace stride. Displayed a solid lower half and above average feel for the barrel with a bat exit velocity of 85 mph. Went 1-for-3 at the plate with a walk in game action while barreling the baseball in all three official plate appearances.

Christian James, 2018, SS/3B, Cumberland Valley
5-foot-11, 145-pound right-handed hitter starts from an open stance and initiates his swing with a toe-tap stride. Registered an 82 mph bat exit velocity, ran a 7.43 60-yard dash and showed plate discipline working three walks in seven official plate appearances in game action. Showcased accurate 72 mph arm strength across the diamond defensively with active feet and confidence in his glove hand. Projects best at second base with current arm strength, but could stay on left side of infield at next level with physical maturity and strength gains.

Luke LeBeau, 2018, 2B, Phoenixville Area
5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed hitter flashed quick hands and some barrel whip with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. The junior starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a toe-tap stride to initiates his swing. A bit of hitch and a low hands load leads to some length in his swing with limited lower half incorporation. Ran a 7.75 60-yard dash and showcased accurate 74 mph arm strength across the diamond from third base during defensive evaluations.

Yariel Levin, 2017, SS/3B, Science Park (NJ)
6-foot, 170-pound uncommitted senior flashed lots of fast twitch actions on the day. The right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and transfers his weight hard to a stiff front side with a bat exit velocity of 83 mph. Displayed solid rhythm to his swing and ability to impart backspin with some gap power. Ran an event best 6.83 60-yard dash and displayed above average arm strength (85 mph) defensively. Showcased athletic actions that would allow for the ability to play multiple defensive positions at the next level including outfield.

Jake Martell, 2018, 2B/3B, Pennsbury
5-foot-6, 140-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and utilizes a leg-lift stride to initiate his swing. A deep load leads to some length in swing. Registered a 74 mph bat exit velocity and went 1-for-3 with a walk during game one action. Ran a 7.41 60-yard dash and showcased sound defensive abilities with 74 mph arm strength across the diamond. Projects best as a second baseman at this time.

Kevin Martin, 2018, 1B, Penncrest
6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and initiates his swing with a heel-raise stride. Almost no pre-load movement with his hands and lack of lower half incorporation results in a bat exit velocity of 72 mph. Displayed a flat barrel path and a feel for the barrel while going 1-for-3 at the plate in game one action. Ran a 7.64 60-yard dash while showcasing developing defensive skills around the first base bag.

Brett Swire, 2017, SS, Brandywine Heights
6-foot-1, 160-pound uncommitted senior displayed a solid overall skill set. Ran a 7.33 60-yard dash and showcased above solid arm strength defensively (83 mph). Displayed confidence in his glove hand and active feet while playing through the baseball. Right-handed hitter starts from a square stance and utilizes a lift-and-replace stride to initiate his swing. Registered an 87 mph bat exit velocity and went 1-for-4 at the plate in game one action.
