By TJ Hunt Director, New Jersey
Scouting Report
Underclass Games (September 18, 2016) Favieri has a lean, athletic build at 6-feet 165-pounds. Currently ranked No. 9 in 2019 class. High follow prospect with tons of upside and room for added muscle/strength. Fastball sat 84-86 with a 68 mph 11/5 breaking ball and flashed 71 mph straight change. Slow mechanics to start, but explodes to home plate with quick arm. Shows some effort in finish, but arm action is loose and quick and arm speed is apparent. Offensively- LH with an athletic and balanced stance and approach. Opened stance, small stride to start load. Very fluid and loose swing. Upper body and hips work smoothly. Line drive hitter with potential for gap to gap power as he continues to mature. High follow.
New Jersey Games (July 23, 2016) Favieri is 6-foot 165-pounds. Was one of the top arms at the entire event. Projectable and athletic build, fastball up to 85, sat primarily 83-85 for his outing. Curveball has sharp 11/5 shape, ranges between 66-71 mph. Lightning quick arm speed, loose and short arm action, minimal effort. Plus athlete for his age, has an idea of how to pitch. Very high follow.
Futures Preview (6/4/16) Favieri is a 6-foot 165-pound shortstop and right handed pitcher. At the plate, Favieri uses a short leg kick and shifts his weight from a loaded back to the front with a short flat barrel through the zone. On the mound, Favieri was one of the top prospects at the showcase. Up to 85, the 2019 righty sat 82-85 with a lightning quick arm from a high-3/4 slot. Very projectable player with an athletic frame.
