As the new year has come and gone, it's time to delve into the annual "Get to Know" segment. Each year prior to the season, we interview several of the state's top ranked seniors to get a look at the behind the scenes preparation for the spring. To keep us going, we sit down Coastal Carolina commit RHP Cameron Flukey.




Get to Know: Cameron Flukey

 

Tell us about the decision-making process for your commitment? How excited are you to play there?
I wanted to take time and consider every college possible. As soon as I stepped on Coastal’s field I knew it was the place I wanted to go. I’m super excited to go there in the summer.

If you were a baseball scout and just watched yourself play, what would that scouting report look like?
Tall lanky with impressive carry on fastball, needs to put on weight and develop off speeds.
We are knee-deep into the off-season schedule. Tell us about your training, and spring preparation.
Lift 4 days a week plus continue the throwing program Baseball Performance Center made for me to be ready for the spring.
Name three goals for the upcoming season.
Win the state title, Have an under 1.0 era and hit a homerun
Do you have any pregame superstitions?
Always drink chocolate milk the morning of a game

Who is the best player you have played against in your high school career so far? What makes that player so good?
Cam Leiter had the hardest looking fastball i’ve ever faced.

Who would you say your baseball role model is? Why?
Mariana Rivera because I grew up watching him and i’ve always loved the way he holds himself on the mound.
