New Jersey State Player of the Year: '18 Josh Hood (St. Augustine Prep HS, NJ)

The 2018 spring high school season in New Jersey generated some incredible individual moments and performances throughout all corners of the state. As the spring high school season comes to a close, Prep Baseball Report is excited to announce one player who emerged ahead of the competition at all levels in the state of New Jersey. This player has been selected not only for their outstanding statistical numbers, but also for their overall effect on their high school program.
Hood, a senior shortstop from St. Augustine Prep HS, NJ produced a strong statistical season while helping lead his team win the Non-Public A Championship, a thrilling 1-0 win over Delbarton.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Wade signed with Auburn University and was recently selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 38th round of the MLB draft.
Hood's all-around performance, as well as the impact he has had on St. Augustine Prep High School, has earned him the 2018 Prep Baseball Report New Jersey State Player of the Year honors.
Hood has been selected by New Jersey Scouting Director TJ Hunt and the team of area scouts who covered the high school baseball season throughout the spring. The Prep Baseball Report staff has been diligently scouting and covering baseball games at baseball diamonds across the state this spring to bring parents, athletes and fans the most comprehensive coverage of amateur baseball across the United States.
