This week, On the Hunt, puts together a list of 7 players from Missouri, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Ontario, and Wisconsin. Included in the list are three infielders, three pitchers, and a speedy outfielder in the 2018-2020 classes. The infielders, each in the 2020 class, show signs of developing into strong defensive players with balanced swings. The pitchers big and strong with high ceilings that should continue to be reached in the near future. Finally, there is a Canadian outfielder with plus speed, and the ability to defend at a high level.

Alex Margot LHP / 1B / Collingswood, NJ / 2019

Margot was one of the top pitching prospects that I saw during my east coast swing. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder is lean and athletic and sports a loose left arm. Standing 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, Margot looks even taller on the mound, and his limbs are long. He delivers out of a near ¾ slot, and produces effortless 82-84 fastballs with much more to come. While he struggled the first night that I watched him, it was obvious that he was an arm to follow, and he was excellent in the second game that I watched him pitch. When at its best, Margot’s curveball shows advanced, two-tier break at 69-71, and takes 1/7-2/8 shape. The spin is tight, and it has a strong chance to become a swing and miss weapon for him in the future. Still growing into his frame, Margot lost his arm slot on his fastball at times, but was able to find it with the help of the curveball. Overall, Margot has a high ceiling that should be reached quickly as he continues to fill out.
