The 2018 class is poised and ready to take the reigns as elder statesman with the departure of the class of 2017 to college and professional ranks. With that, PBR has rolled out the initial class of 2018 rankings in their draft year. In this edition of, On the Hunt, some of the top uncommitted players take center stage. While the majority of the top 400 prospects in the 2018 class are committed, there are still some impressive players who will make an impact at the next level. Featured states include Connecticut, Iowa, Louisiana, New Jersey, Ohio, and South Dakota. As well as two potential studs from Ontario. Included are five right-handed pitchers, three outfielder, and a physical left-handed hitting 1B/OF.

Denzel Clarke OF / Everest Academy, ON / 2018

Clarke is quickly becoming one of the most coveted, uncommitted players left in the 2018 class. His 6-foot-3 frame has continued filling out since last year’s Future Games, and Clarke is now listed at a sturdy 190-pounds. Having run a 60-yard dash time of 6.68, Clarke’s athleticism is even more apparent when roaming the outfield where he takes efficient routes to balls with long strides. At the plate, Clarke shows a short path to the ball with feel for a flat barrel that shows lag in the zone. Still somewhat maturing into his long frame, Clarke has a high ceiling that should be approached quicker at the next level with more consistent game play.
