The 2023 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across New Jersey.

 Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Veteran's Field at the NJSIAA state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview the top teams across NJ.

TEAM OUTLOOK

Coach Carmichael has a lot to look forward in 2023 with two front line starters poised to take the bulk of the innings in Rutgers commit Justin Sweeney and Coastal Carolina commit Cameron Flukey. Both are seniors with low-90s fastballs and pitchability to their arsenals. Aside from the two workhorses, EHT will need the rest of the rotation to step up to see consistent success in 2023. Expect guys like Lawson McIntosh, Christian Rando, Jason Salsbery, and Jake Cagna to get elevated roles on the mound. Offensively the Eagles made progress throughout the 2022 season as many of the returners were seeing their first varsity action. Jake Cagna was a monster in 2022 and led the team in almost every offensive category as just a freshman. Expect Cagna to make some more noise as he returns in his sophomore season. Velardi, Baronowitz, Thies and transfer Joel Thompson provide some depth to the lineup and will provide some stability in the latter half of the season.
