Mason Kurtz SS / OF / Buckeye Valley, OH / 2022

Report: 5-foot-8, 140-pound athletic frame. Starts in a tall, open setup at the plate. A wiry strong kid that can generate gap pop with he squares the baseball up. Path is slightly downhill leading to pull side tendencies. Swing has areas to cleanup but the natural tools are there to be an impact type bat. Like what I saw from Kurtz defensively. Moves well in the infield, showing a quick first step off the bat. Ball skills are well above average for age. Flashed the ability to make plays/throw on the move.

Austin Sizemore RHP / SS / Olentangy, OH / 2022

Report: 5-foot-8, 165-pound strong frame. Didn’t get much of a look at him defensively but really stood out with the ability to swing the bat. Loading sequence can be rushed at times but timing wasn’t an issue for him on this day. Path is level and natural tools are well above average for class. Landed on a few balls in game, showing the ability to drive the ball with authority to pull side gap. Run producer type.

Will Wickline 3B / RHP / Southern High-Meigs Co, OH / 2022

Report: A physical kid with room to add even more strength to his 6-foot, 150-pound frame. A corner type that looked the part at first base. Brings above average athleticism to the spot, covering more ground than most. Hands are soft and he can really pick it over there. At the plate he starts in an athletic, open stance prior to going with a controlled stride for timing. Hands move slightly back into a downhill launch at swing decision. Strength is more apparent than speed to his hands presently. Line drive type swinger with more left in there as he adds loft to swing.

McKay Whitaker 1B / OF / Worthington Kilbourne, OH / 2022

Report: Ideal frame college coaches look for with long levers, wide shoulders and high waist. A functionally athletic kid that moves light on his feet around the bag at first base. Didn’t get many attempts in game over there but the actions pass the look test. At the plate he starts movements very early, allowing for consistent timing. Sees the ball well and didn’t expand the zone. Showed the ability to work counts and attack the fastball early in counts. More feel than explosiveness at the plate presently.

Maddox Burnworth RHP / INF / Gahanna, OH / 2022

Report: A two-way prospect that we got a chance to see on the bump. A good athlete with an uptempo pace. Actions are fluid and athletic on the mound. Arm action is clean/compact as arm travels through a high-¾ slot. Will need to be in the zone more often moving forward but the arm talent is there. Fastball was 75-78 mph with life to both sides of the plate. Spins an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with gradual action at 62-63 mph. Breaking ball was the primary secondary offering but Burnworth showed a changeup a few times as well.
