Cam Varga Will Not Pitch In Jupiter

The World Wood Bat Championship is set to begin Thursday, Oct. 24 in Jupiter, FL, and one of the most anticipated games was going to be one in which RHP Cam Varga (Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, OH) takes the hill. However, that’s not going to happen now. Varga was shut down this summer with biceps tendinitis in his right arm and told to rest eight to 12 weeks. He recently had a follow-up and was cleared to pitch, but that was on Oct. 15, giving him less than 10 days to prepare for game action—something he hasn’t seen in nine weeks.

Chad Varga, Cam’s father, confirmed this afternoon that Cam will not pitch in Jupiter, but rather go through the regular routine of preparing for his spring season. Despite being 100 percent, Cam Varga and his family decided that they wanted to be cautious and didn’t want to rush into his first outing back. Rather, they will go through the normal offseason routine to prepare for the season. Since Varga hasn’t pitched since the summer, Chad Varga said they would open bullpens to scouts in February.
