Inside the Recruitment: '15 OF David Hall commits to Wittenberg
May 10, 2015
David Hall, OF, Buckeye Valley HS, Class of 2015
PBR: Why did you choose Wittenberg?
Hall:I chose Wittenberg for a few reasons. They have great reputation as an athletic program, it was closer to home, and they have outstanding academics.
PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Hall:I was also considering Wilmington, Heidelberg, and Ohio Wesleyan
PBR: Where did the coaches first see you compete and how did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?
Hall: Coach Lewis first saw me compete in the Unsigned Senior Showcase at Sinclair CC this past winter and then got into further contact and now here we are.
PBR: What role does the coaching staff expect you to play during your first year on campus?
Hall:
The coaching staff expects me to work as hard as I can in the off season and be competitive as a collegiate baseball player.
PBR: Wittenberg is very close to home. How much of a role did distance play in your decision?
Hall:
Family was a huge deciding factor for me. Witt was close enough to home so I could still be involved with my family. My twin sister will be attending Miami University this fall and it was a great fit because it was in the middle of everything.
PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Hall:
Two people have had the greatest influence on me as a baseball player. My personal coach has taught me everything I know about the game and my dad has taught me my greatest lesson, be the best you can be in anything you do in life.
PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was your most exciting experience playing summer ball?
Hall:I play for the 18U Columbus Sharks and my most exciting experience has been playing extremely competitive programs across the Midwest
PBR: What were your stats last season for Buckeye Valley?
Hall:
.444 BA and .648 OBP
PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher you have faced in Ohio?
Hall:The toughest pitcher I've faced has been my good friend and Marshall commit, Josh Shapiro. I've seen him for 4 years down at Ron Golden's Baseball Academy and he changes speeds extremely well and really makes you earn everything as a hitter.
