Xavier Moore, RHP, Lorain HS, Class of 2017

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio State?

Moore: I am extremely happy to be an official Buckeye. I chose Ohio State University for a combination of things, because of the great facilities, and a chance to receive a great education which made it an easy choice.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Moore: Other schools I was considering were Xavier, Kent State, Michigan, Toledo and Cincinnati.

PBR: Where did Coach Beals first see you?  How did your relationship develop with them?

Moore: Coach Beals first seen me in a tournament in Columbus I was pitching, and soon after that I was in contact with him. My relationship developed with him while talking to him, and building that coach to player relationship.

PBR: You performed extremely well in some of the premier PBR events this summer.  How did that help your recruiting process?

Moore: PBR has helped me a lot it got my name out there, and gave me confidence while competing at a high level.

PBR: You are only a junior, how important was it to get your commitment out of the way so early?  Are you finished with the recruiting process?

Moore: Committing as a junior was very important to me, because the process is long and hard, now I can just play baseball and not have to worry about where I'm going after High School. Yes I am done with the recruiting process.

PBR:  Who do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable experience?

Moore: During this summer I played for the Lake Erie Warhawks 17u ( Abrahamowicz), and my most memorable moment was when we went to Michigan, and went 4-0 in pool play and got to play in the championship.

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process?

Moore: My expectations about the recruiting process was that it was going to be long and tough, and I didn't know where I would end up, but after doing PBR events, and these big tournaments in front of scouts then the ball starting rolling.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Moore: My mom and dad had the biggest impact on me. My mom for supporting me, and my dad for teaching me the game, and staying on me to make sure that I'm doing what I need to do to be a better baseball player.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season?

Moore: My spring stats for the 2015 spring season were: IP 36.33 W/L 3-2 ERA. 2.31 SO 46.

PBR: Who is the toughest hitter that you have faced in Ohio?

Moore: I have faced many tough hitters throughout my pitching season, but the toughest was Marques Inman. We play Elyria High school every year during high school season and he's always a tough out.
