PBR Spotlight Game: Badin and Mohr beat Waynesville

By Trace Fowler

CARLISLE- Hamilton Badin and Waynesville are two talented teams, and seldom does so much talent roam the field of a Division III district semi final contest. Radar guns, stopwatches, and video cameras seemed mandatory to enter the gates of Carlisle Field.

Sophomore Cameron Mohr was in charge of slowing down Waynesville potent offense, and thats just what Mohr did.

After quick work by Mohr in the top half of the first, Badin jumped on Waynesville starter Ty Black. Rams senior shortstop Luke Wurzelbacher (EKU Recruit) began the rally with a single. T.J.Nichting, a talented junior prospect followed Wurzelbacher with a single, putting runners at the corners.

Black induced what seemed to be an inning ending double play, however an infield error plated a run, and set the stage for Nick Browning. The junior outfielder laced a double to to cap off a 3 run inning for the Rams.

Waynesville’s Connor Combs would answer right back with a two out RBI single, however Badin would extend the lead to 4-1 once again in the fourth on another Warrior mistake.

Mohr, who showed impressive composure, frustrated the Warrior hitters.

Connor Combs was the only Waynesville hitter to hit Mohr on a consistent basis. Combs' double in the fifth helped cut the lead to 4-2.

Mohr however, would escape all other threats and receive the win and toss a complete game.

Badin will move on to play CHCA in the district championship at Kings High School, first pitch slated for 5:00 pm.
