PBR Spotlight Game: Division I District Semifinal: No. 15 Olentangy Liberty vs Pickerington North

Worthington, OH – Olentangy Liberty dominated Pickerington Central in all facets of the District Semi-Final game with an 8-0 victory.

The second seed Patriots sent Jacob Niggemeyer (Ohio State commit) to the mound and he did not disappoint. The Tigers countered with Kyle Casserly (West Virginia commit) to toe the mound.

With a scoreless first inning, Liberty took a 1-0 advantage when AJ Kullman came around to score on a Justice Griebel single. 

The right-handed Niggemeyer seemed to be in control from the first pitch of the game. Using an 88-89 mph fastball, he dominated the Tiger offense.

Casserly was able to pitch out of jams the first three innings by stranding five runners on base. In the fourth inning, the luck Tigers luck was running out.

Olentangy Liberty was able to cross the plate three times in the bottom of the fourth for a 4-0 score.  During the frame the offense was paced by Griebel, Marcus Wechselberger and Chase Gresock. 

After chasing Casserly out of the game, Patriots would tack on 4 more runs in the fifth inning when Nick Parr, Mitchell Griffiths (Alderson Broaddus commit), Griebel and Wechselberger all touched home plate for the final runs of the game for an 8-0 lead. 

The Tigers offense mustered the entire game only getting two hits for the game. RJ Williams had a double, while Brandon Henson contributed with a single.

Niggemeyer continued to cruise finishing with a line of 6 innings pitched, allowing two hits, no walks and 10 strikeouts.  Matt McPheron threw a scoreless seventh inning to complete the game.

Offensively, the Patriots pounded out a total of 10 hits to help improve their record to 23-5. Olentangy Liberty will face off next Olentangy or Mount Vernon in a District Final match-up on Wednesday.
