PBR Spotlight Game: DI No. 24 Miamisburg vs. DI No. 27 Beavercreek

In a battle of two top thirty teams, the 24th ranked Miamisburg Vikings outlasted the 27th ranked Beavercreek Beavers 8-5. It was a very exciting game in which both teams had plenty of chances, however Miamisburg earned the victory.

In the bottom of the first, the Beavers got on the scoreboard first with an RBI triple by Sinclair recruit Alex Anders against Miamisburg pitcher and Wright State Recruit Jeremy Randolph.

In the bottom of the second, Beavercreek added on some runs against Randolph when sophomore starting pitcher Jackson Back stepped up with an RBI single giving the Beavers a 2-0 lead headed to the third.

Miamisburg finally got something going in the third when senior Lance Brockman tripled, Kevin Teasdale singled and Jeremy Randolph doubled to tie the game at two. Randolph settled down in the bottom of three with a quick inning and sent the game to the top of the fourth tied at 2-2.

The Vikings exploded in the top half of the fourth inning scoring six runs on just four hits. The inning was started on hits by Brett Myers and senior Tony Wydra, which brought Lake Erie recruit Wesley Birchmeier to the plate. Birchmeier laid down a sacrifice bunt which was thrown away by Beaver pitcher Jackson Back, and all runners were safe. After a sacrifice fly by catcher Brad Sorg, Brockman hit another clutch triple driving in two more runs. Randolph and junior Adam Giles both followed by getting hits to extend the lead to 8-2.

In the bottom of the 6th Beavercreek finally got something going, scoring 2 runs to cut the lead to 8-5. With the bases loaded and only one out 18th ranked 2015 outfielder Brandon Williams came to the plate and struck out looking by Viking reliever Lance Brockman, who then made another big time pitch with two outs to retire senior shortstop Bryan Janson on a pop to second base ended the rally and preserving the 8-5 victory for Miamisburg.

Miamisburg was led offensively by seniors Lance brockman who was 2-4 (2 3B, 2 RBI, and 2 RS) and Jeremy Randolph who was 2-4 (2B, 2 RBI and RS). On the mound Brockman went four innings allowing just two runs on 5 hits, while striking out 2. The Vikings will now shift there attention to the Springboro Panthers who they will face Monday and Tuesday.

Beavercreek struggled to string hits together but had nine hits as a team and will have a huge 2 game series Monday and Tuesday against the 31st ranked Northmont Thunderbolts.
