PERRYSBURG- Anthony Wayne upped their winning streak to 14 games as the Generals pounded out 13 hits in a 12-3 victory over Perrysburg during a steady drizzle on Wednesday.

Anthony Wayne, the 6th ranked team in Division I with 13 seniors, showed the experience and depth of their lineup as seven of the nine starters had at least one hit.

The Generals got it started in the 2nd inning with senior Jake Chipka being hit by a pitch. After a groundout and sacrifice bunt, nine-hole hitter Nick Reiter came through with a two-out RBI single to start the two-out rally. A single by University of Toledo commit Deion Tansel followed by an error by the third basemen, which scored a run, brought senior three-hole hitter Reed Allen to the plate. Allen smoked a line shot through the middle scoring the 3rd and 4th runs of the inning.

With Anthony Wayne up 4-0, Generals' starter, 6-5 Nick Reiter, shut the Yellow Jackets down 1-2-3, two via strikeout. The lefty was consistently in the mid- to upper-70s with the fastball, which had plenty of tail to it. Reiter went six innings to register the victory, giving up two runs and fanning six, to up his season total to 32 strikeouts in 30 2/3 innings.

The Generals showed solid defense behind Reiter, turning two double plays while making several other solid plays behind the lanky left-hander.

Anthony Wayne tacked on three more runs in the 4th inning. Tansel got it started with a lead-off single followed by another single and a walk. Cleanup hitter Hunter Lonseth then roped a bases-loaded shot to left clearing the bases, the 3rd coming as the leftfielder had trouble collecting the ball committing two errors on the play.

Perrysburg, which graduated eight starters from a team that reached the Division I state championship a year ago, committed five errors in the game.

The Yellow Jackets, rated 40th in Division I, showed some signs of life in the bottom of the 6th. Sophomore two-hole hitter Austin Lee started the inning off with a single and Hunter Smith followed with a single. Right-handed sophomore power hitter Mark Delas came to the plate and drove the ball to deep right field off the wall for a long single, plating Lee. Junior catcher Kyle Durham then launched a moon shot to right field for a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to 8-2.

However, that wasn't enough as Anthony Wayne rallied to score four more in the 7th. Tansel finished with three singles and scored two runs. Josh Lindke added a single, double and two RBI, while getting plunked twice.

Anthony Wayne (16-1, 7-0 NLL) travels to Napoleon on Friday in the 2nd round of league play. Perrysburg (10-5-2, 4-3 NLL) has a makeup game against Archbold Thursday, before hosting Maumee on Friday.
