Q and A with 2013 Ashland Commit: Michael Hudec (North Royalton HS)

PBR: Why did you choose Ashland? 

Hudec:  I chose Ashland because of the opportunities it offered me both academically and athletically.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Hudec: Marietta, Mount Union, Tiffin, Hillsdale, Washington and Jefferson and Heidelberg

PBR: Where did the Coach Schaly first see you? How did your relationship develop with the rest of the coaching staff?

Hudec: Coach Schaly first saw me at an Ashland camp my junior year.  My relationship developed with the coaching staff over the past couple of months, and I really liked the coaching staff from day one.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus? 

Hudec: The coaches expect me to gain some experience my freshman year and compete for a starting spot during my sophomore year.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help Eagle baseball?

Hudec: My biggest strength is my offense and I will help Eagle baseball with my knowledge of the game.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Hudec: I play for the North Coast Gladiators and my most memorable experience from this summer was pitching and winning against Ohio Elite in the semi-final game of the Cincy Flames Tournament at Xavier University.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team for the rest of your senior season?

Hudec: Now that my commitment has been made, I am striving to become an All-State player and help our team reach States.

PBR: What were your stats for last spring season at North Royalton?

Hudec: I hit .324 and led the team with 9 doubles. I also had a fielding percentage of .954.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Hudec: The toughest pitcher I have ever faced is my summer teammate, Eric Lauer (Kent State Commit).
