Q and A with 2013 Charlotte Commit: TJ Nichting (Hamilton Badin HS)

TJ Nichting, INF, Hamilton Badin HS, Class of 2013

PBR: Why did you choose Charlotte?

Nichting: Charlotte is is well known for a good baseball school, warm weather and as a good academic school.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Nichting:  Xavier University, Marshall, UC, Miami, Ohio State

PBR: Where did the Charlotte coaches first see you?  How did your relationship develop with them?

Nichting: I am not sure but my High School coached played there so I'm sure that had something to do with it.

PBR:  You recently attended PBR’s Top Prospect Showcase.  How did that help you in the recruiting process?

Nichting: The Top Prospect Showcase gave a lot of coaches an opportunity to see me play.

PBR: You have made your commitment very early.  Why did you chose to make your decision so soon and are you finished with the recruiting process?

Nichting:  It seems like a lot of junior and seniors have committed already so it just seemed like the right time for me.  I plan on honoring my verbal, so yes I would say I'm done.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?

Nichting: That would be hard to answer seeing that I'm going into my Senior year of High School, but I would hope to battle for a starting position.

PBR:  What team do you play for in the summer?

Nichting: Midland Redskins

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Nichting:  My Dad and Grandpa

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Hamilton Badin?

Nichting:  AB-100, Runs-31, Hits-47, 2B-14 and a AVG-.470

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Nichting: Taylore Cherry
