Q and A with 2015 UNC Charlotte Commit: Conner Thomson (Canton South HS)

Conner Thomson, C, Canton South HS, Class of 2015

PBR: Why did you choose UNC Charlotte?

Thomson: First of all, the weather is awesome. Not only that but the education I will receive, the coaches, facilities and playing in Conference USA all appealed to me. Charlotte is a good fit for me.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?

Thomson: Xavier, Central Michigan and West Virginia.

PBR: How much did playing down south play a part in your decision?

Thomson: It's a big deal to me.  I made a visit in February to UNCC and the players were taking BP outside in sunny 60 degree weather.

PBR: Now that you have your commitment out of the way, what are your goals both individually and for the team going into your junior season?

Thomson: I think we have the guys to get our team to state this year. We've been to regionals the last 2 years and it's time. Personally, I want to focus on leadership. I feel that will help our chances.

PBR: This past summer you represented Team Ohio in PBR's Midwest Futures Game, tell us abut your experience with this prestigious event and how it helped you in the recruiting process?

Thomson: It was a great experience playing with some awesome players and to be able to represent Ohio. The Futures Games got me on the board with a number of schools.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?

Thomson: I play for the Midwest Pelicans and the most memorable moment was probably playing under the lights at Vandy.

PBR:  What person has the greatest impact on your baseball career and why?

Thomson: Both of my parents have always been there and supported me throughout my baseball career.

PBR: What were your stats this spring season at Canton South?

Thomson: .370 AVG, 33 Runs, 34 Hits, .525 On Base %

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?

Thomson: Connor Curlis
