Q and A with Ohio Wesleyan Commit: Jack Miller (Columbus DeSales HS)

Jack Miller, C, Columbus DeSales HS

PBR: Why did you choose Ohio Wesleyan?
Miller: I chose OWU because it was a great fit for me both athletically and academically.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Miller:  Tiffin and Heidelberg

PBR: Where did the Coach Mott first see you? How did your relationship develop with Coach Mott?
Miller:  He first saw me I believe my sophomore year during the the state tournament and again during summer ball and the state tournament my junior year. We continued to stay in touch more so my junior year and kept in contact with me as well as my family.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play your first year on campus?
Miller:  They expect me to come in and see a moderate amount of playing time and contribute a lot of defense

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that you will help OWU baseball?
Miller:  I believe my biggest strength is my defensive ability and my want to win. I feel like I can help continue the tradition at OWU and also help out behind the plate.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what was the most memorable experience from this summer?
Miller:  I play for the Columbus Cobras, and the most memorable event was probably playing and traveling every where with the guys.

PBR: After such an amazing junior season where you won the State Championship.  How pressure do you feel to try to make it a repeat?
Miller: Yes there is pressure, but we as a unit don't see it that way. We are taught to go out and play our brand of baseball and not to worry about all the outside influences. Our goal every year is to win our league, then districts, then regional and then states.

PBR: Who is the toughest pitcher that you have faced in Ohio?
Miller:  The toughest pitcher I have faced was Tyler Skulina (Walsh Jesuit HS).
