Ontario Insider: Ontario Nationals Organizational Workout

By Chris Kemlo
PBR Ontario Scouting Director

Last weekend, I was able to watch the Ontario Nationals 18u and 16u teams respective workouts at PlayBall Academy in Kitchener as they prepare for the start of their PBLO season.

The 18u squad will open up at home versus the Windsor Selects on April 25th, while the 16u Nationals will be at home to open up on May 2 against the Toronto Mets. These games are a home and home series (as most weekends in the PBLO are) with a double header being played on Saturday and Sunday at each teams home field.

On the weekend, the Nationals took care of all facets of the game at their practice as I was able to see everyone in attendance from their defensive position, as well guys swing the bat and pitchers get their work in the bullpen.

Although it was a small glimpse, it looks like the Nationals should be ready to go right out the gate. The organization was in Arizona in March so the rust has shaken off and coach Shawn Gillespie expects the players to be prepared when the season finally begins.

Weekend Notes From The Workout

+ 18u looks to be strong on the left side of the infield with Adam Cook on the hot corner and Carson Burns patrolling shortstop.
