The South Region State Games Tryout took place Sunday, September 19th at Stoneman Douglas in Parkland, FL. The event featured players from the 2022-2026 classes participating in a pro-style workout followed by bullpens in front of the PBR Florida Scouting Staff.

Noah Alvarez 1B / 3B / Monsignor Pace, FL / 2024

6-foot-5, 215-pound proportional frame. Solid in the box, Al84ez had a max exit velocity of 84 mph. Starts in a tall stance with a controlled load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed is above average, uses an upward swing plane and high finish. He found multiple barrels in his round. Pull side approach. Raw in the infield, displayed a velocity of 74 mph; had a natural exchange, raw hands, and average footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were raw. Had a short arm action and a high ¾ slot with decent accuracy to the base. Clocked a 60 time of 7.72 at the event.

Ethan Askin C / 1B / Stoneman Douglas, FL / 2024

5-foot-9, 163-pound lean projectable frame. Capable in the box, Askin clocked an exit velocity of 82 mph. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a tight load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is efficient developing, exhibits a short simple swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found some barrels with loud contact. Line drive approach. While catching, his best position velocity throwing to second was registered at 73 mph; showed sure hands, a clean natural transfer, and consistent feet. displayed his ability to control the run game with a pop time of 1.98-2.21. Wide setup with some flexibility. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a short quick arm action and an-over-the-top slot. During the event, recorded a 60 time of 8.02.

Frank Avila 2B / SS / Riviera Prep, FL / 2024

5-foot-7, 135-pound athletic build. Confident in the box, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 80 mph. Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a quick tight load, then uses a controlled leg kick. Had a simple loose swing plane, flashed efficient bat speed and high good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Solid in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 77 mph; shows soft sure hands, fluid in control feet, and a natural exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used athletic slot with a quick loose arm action. During the event, ran the 60-yard dash in 7.36.

Kristoffer Blanks 1B / LHP / Dwyer, FL / 2023

5-foot-11, 180-pound physical lengthy build. Solid in the box, Blanks clocked an exit velocity of 86 mph. Begins in a tall stance with a quick arm bar load, then uses a leg kick. Bat speed is quick efficient, uses an upward loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. Found some barrels with loud contact. Aggressive gap to gap approach. Capable in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 80 mph; showed a fluid exchange, in control feet, and sure consistent hands. Nicholas Bofill OF / RHP / Westminster Christian, FL / 2023

6-foot-2, 182-pound lean athletic frame. Confident at the plate, Bofill had a max exit velocity of 82 mph. Begins in a balanced stance with a compact load, then uses a short controlled stride. Has a simple loose swing plane, efficient bat speed and good extension on his finish. Through the round he found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Lands square with recoil finish. Threw his fastball 76-78 mph and topped out at 79 mph.

Reese Burton OF / RHP / Stoneman Douglas, FL / 2024

5-foot-11, 180-pound lean athletic build. Capable in the box, Burton clocked an exit velocity of 79 mph. Started in a balanced tall stance with a quick compact load, then used a short controlled stride. Bat speed was raw developing, used a short simple swing plane and high finish. Found some barrels with loud contact. Base hit aggressive approach. Confident from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 84 mph; shows choppy rhythmic feet, sure hands, and a clean natural exchange. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot. Augusto Calienes RHP / OF / Pembroke Pines Charter, FL / 2023

5-foot-9, 170-pound athletic physical build. Athletic on the mound, showed a high ¾ arm angle and a quick loose arm action with quick consistent arm speed. Up-tempo drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows high effort. Balance is tall point with an in line shoulders in his delivery. Lands square with recoil finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 83-84 mph and topped out at 85 mph; showed command decent around the zone. His 11/5 curveball (64-65) has slurvey action and some down in the zone control. Throws a heavy changeup (73-76) that shows arm side in the zone control and gradual fading action.

Zain Diaco C / 3B / American Heritage Plantation , FL / 2024

5-foot-11, 170-pound athletic slim frame. Smooth athletic in the box, Diaco had a max exit velocity of 87 mph. Started in a balanced crouched stance with a tight compact load, then used a controlled toe tap stride. Bat speed was above average efficient, displayed a loose upward swing plane and high finish. He found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap line drive approach. While catching, he recorded a position velocity of 77 mph during throw downs; had soft sure hands, a quick clean transfer, and athletic fluid footwork. had quick feet and transfers on his throw downs, recording a 1.96-2.09 pop time. Bobby Fasulo OF / RHP / Jupiter, FL / 2022

6-foot-1, 195-pound physical strong build. Athletic at the plate, Fasulo was ranked 2nd with an exit velocity of 90 mph. Begins in a balanced tall stance with a tight load, then uses a controlled long stride. Had a short simple swing plane, explosive above average bat speed and good extension on his finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Capable recorded an outfield position velocity of 83 mph; has a natural clean exchange, sure consistent hands, and in control feet. Movements laterally were average and he fields the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a high ¾ slot and a longer consistent arm action. Clocked a 60 time of 7.17 at the event.

Samuel Gamon 2B / SS / Hialeah Miami Lakes, FL / 2024

5-foot-7, 130-pound lean projectable build. Capable during batting practice, the right-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 71 mph. Begins in a tall stance with a small rhythmic load, then uses a controlled long stride. Bat speed is developing, shows a level swing plane and balanced finish. Found some barrels with loud contact. Up the middle approach. Solid in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 72 mph; showed sure hands, developing in control feet, and a natural exchange. Laterally, movements were developing and fielded the ball out front. Decent accuracy to the bases, used a longer arm action and a high ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 7.89 at the event.

Sebastian Granobles RHP / COHEA , FL / 2023

5-foot-6, 180-pound solid sturdy frame. Capable on the mound, showing quick consistent arm speed he used a longer clean arm action and a high ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher who uses decent effort. Tall balance point with even in line shoulders. Lands square with a clean balanced finish. Sat with his fastball at 75-77 mph and topped out at 78 mph; has command decent around the zone. Has slight fading action and arm side control on his changeup (69-71). His 11/5 slider (67-70) has slurvey action and occasional down in the zone control.

Michael Hough OF / RHP / Lake Placid, FL / 2026

5-foot-4, 105-pound lanky slim build. Confident in the box, the switch hitter recorded an exit velocity of 66 mph. Starts in a balanced crouched stance with a tight compact load, then uses a quick controlled stride. Had flashed developing bat speed, short simple swing plane and level good extension on his finish. Found some barrels with loud contact. Up the middle line drive approach. Capable in the infield, displayed a velocity of 74 mph; showed a clean natural exchange, rhythmic developing feet, and sure consistent hands. Raw in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 72 mph; had a clean fluid exchange, sure hands, and consistent in control footwork. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were average. Using a longer arm action, showed decent accuracy to the bag from a high ¾ slot. During the event, clocked a 60 time of 7.93. Confident on the mound, used a high ¾ arm angle with a consistent arm action while showing some developing arm speed. Drop-and-drive type pitcher who shows decent effort. Displays even shoulders and an athletic balance point. Lands square with a clean balanced finish. Knuckle (44-45 mph). Produced a fastball that came in at 66-68 mph and topped out at 70 mph; had control decent around the zone. His changeup (41-46) showed gradual fading action and both sides of the plate control. Showed slurvey action and sporadic around the zone control on his 11/5 slider (56-59).

Anthony Marchese 1B / OF / Cypress Bay, FL / 2024

6-foot-1, 197-pound strong athletic frame. Solid at the plate, Marchese had an exit velocity of 81 mph. Begins in a tall balanced stance with a small load, then uses a short stride. Bat speed is efficient, shows an upward swing plane and high finish. In his round he found multiple barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. Smooth in the infield, recorded a position velocity of 71 mph; has sure hands, a clean exchange, and choppy feet. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Ryan Mcpherson RHP / 2B / North Broward Prep, FL / 2024

6-foot-1, 170-pound athletic build. Projectable during batting practice, Mcpherson displayed an exit velocity of 90 mph, Highest at the event. Starts in a tall stance with an arm bar load, then uses a controlled leg kick. Has electric bat speed, short swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with a lot of loud contact. Gap to gap line drive approach. Above average showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 86 mph; has a clean natural exchange, smooth athletic feet, and sure consistent hands. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a ¾ slot and a short arm action. Recorded a 60 time of 7.34 at the event. Above average projectable on the mound, showed lightning arm speed, he had a ¾ arm angle and a long arm action. Drop-and-drive type pitcher and uses decent effort. Michael Miraglia 2B / SS / Palmer Trinity, FL / 2026
