Charles Olivier Cyr OF / RHP / Ecole De Mortagne, QC / 2023Report: A standout from our Rising Stars event in Quebec, Charles-Olivier Cyr looks really good off the bus. At 6-foot-5, 195-pounds, Cyr is a physical kid who has a chance to grow into something really interesting. A strong 6.85 runner with arm strength from the outfield, Cyr carried that into the batter’s box with his BP. Then he got on the mound the next day and sat 84-86, touching 87 a few times as well with a heavy fastball and feel for a secondary pitch. There’s more there, but the first impression on him is that he’s going to be good. Future: Physically, he’s probably reached his peak, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Right now, it’ll be interesting to see what his barrel control looks like as we roll into next spring. It’s loud, but he still tends to get caught on his back foot and hasn’t truly tapped into his power just yet. On the mound, he needs better command of his secondary pitches. We don’t know which side of the ball he’ll end up on, but there’s a lot to dream on.
