Forest Acres Classic
Dutch Fork HS
Will Taylor, OF, 2021
Dual sport Clemson commit (football & baseball) looked the part of a high end athlete with a lean, muscular build at 6-foot, 180 pounds. Right handed hitter opened the game turning around an 85 mph fastball off the hip of the opposing pitcher, with one radar gun in the vicinity recording 98mph off the barrel. After that loud introduction, the Dutch Fork centerfielder did not see much to hit until the game was out of hand. He did steal 2B with a 3.36 steal break time. On his final at-bat, he rolled over sharply to 3B, running a 4.33 down the line with the full swing. Defensively, Taylor has excellent speed and range, showing coverage from gap-to-gap, securing catches with a natural ability. The arm is at least average at the pro level, with a clean arm stroke and over-the-top release, almost gunning down a runner at 1B, who had worked to stretch off the bag in case the hit fell, after a catch in the left-centerfield gap.
Jay Metts, SS, 2021
Committed to the College of Charleston shortly after the Forest Acres Classic. Undersized but plays with a high motor and has strength and quickness presents. Stands 5-foot-10, 170 pounds. Four hits on opening night, including two doubles and a homer. Quick bat. Simple setup. Stable head. Good actions with active feet at short. Works to play through the ball at shortstop, creating some momentum in his feet for his throw. Arm has average carry and his actions allow him to make most routine plays, routinely.
Evan Stone, OF, 2021
South Carolina commit. High level athlete with elite quickness.
