Quick Hitters: P27 Position Players

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Executive Director

PBR descended upon Lexington County Stadium on Friday March 12th to run a Scout Day with P27.  P27 is an academy with an emphasis on developing baseball players in the classroom and on the field, for the next stages in their playing career.  Several players from P27 were invited to the PBR ProCase.  Players attending the Scout Day did not attend the ProCase, but wanted the verified and trusted evaluation and numbers provided by PBR Scouts.

The day started with position players going through an offensive workout.  TrackMan was able to track ball flight off the bat throughout BP.  During the defensive portion of the day, P27 players worked out from their primary positions.  The final workout of the day saw pitchers throw controlled bullpens, again with TrackMan providing data on each pitch.

Quick Hitters

Nicholas DiMichele (OF, 2024) – Thin 6-foot-1, 140 pound frame.  High waist.  Should continue to add strength to the frame.  Ran a 7.48 sixty, with a decent burst.  Should improve the sixty time as he is able to hold top end speed for longer periods.  Average arm from the OF with feel for accuracy and a clean release.  Loose and rhythmic from the right side.  Finds the barrel.  Positioned well as he gets stronger.

Nicholas Foster (3B, 2022) – Athletic 5-foot-11, 180 pounds.  Strength and athleticism present.  Ran a 7.28 on the laser.  Top exit velocity of 95 mph from the right side.  Above average bat speed and barrel feel.  Aggressive, working for extension with a pull tendency through BP.  Some uphill leverage in the swing path.  Defensively has rhythm.  Hips can play high at times.  Easy exchange and over-the-top slot with carry and accuracy.

Ethan Garner (MIF, 2023) – Strength is present at 5-foot-10, 165 pounds.  Has energy.  Has quickness.  Ran a 6.98 on the laser timer.  Switch hitter.  As a right handed hitter uses a waggle in the hands and bat pre-pitch, settling with a load back.  Dives toward the plate.  Good barrel feel with average bat speed.  On the left side, continues to show balance and barrel feel, but lacks some of the strength and quickness on the right side.  Defensively, played low with some softness in the hands, funneling to the mid-section.  Easy transfers and above average carry across the diamond.

TJ Lemonis (INF, 2024) – Average frame at 5-foot-9, 165 pounds.  Right handed hitter works with looseness in his body.   Has rhythm.  Good barrel feel.  Average bat speed.   Attacked gap to gap.  Top exit velocity of 89 mph.  Some effort defensively in the hands and exchange.  Good accuracy across the field with average carry.

Dylan Rodriguez (OF/CINF, 2022) – Large frame with broad shoulders, standing 6-foot-1, 230 pounds.  Tall base from the right side.  Works with some looseness and solid rhythm.  Strong through the zone with the barrel, producing an exit velocity peaking at 102mph.  Top hand can get dominant at times.  Solid actions in the OF and at 1B.  Arm showed accuracy with above average carry from the outfield, peaking at 88mph out of the hand.  Ran a 7.38 sixty.   Nimble for his size around 1B.

Rafael Soto Jr (SS, 2024) – Elite defender with excellent rhythm in his hands and feet.  Showcased a quick exchange and release, throwing with carry and accuracy from multiple slots.  Has some flare on the infield, with a ton of confidence in his hands.  Switch hitter has bat speed and barrel feel from both sides of the plate.  More strength present that would be predicted by the 5-foot-7, 150 pound build.
