Quick Hitters: PBR Scout Day with the Charlotte MegaStars

Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

PBR was at Olympic High School in Charlotte to run a scout day for the Charlotte MegaStars.  During the event, players were run through a full pro-style workout, including a laser timed 60, defensive work at their primary position, cage time, producing an exit velocity, and live BP on the field.

PBR scouts, as well as several college coaches, were on hand to collect the information and begin to put evaluations on the players present.  Select players will also receive a professionally edited video to their PBR Profile page.

Today we take a quick glimpse at some of our scouting notes from the workout.  Full player reports are coming soon, but this gives a feel for some of the prospects that stood out on the day.

PBR Scout Day with the Charlotte MegaStars – Quick Hitters

  • Luke Absher (3B, Hibriten HS, 2020) - Drove balls during batting practice, making consistent hard contact.  Physical presence in the box with strength in his swing.
  • Jeremy Beamon (RHP/3B, Providence HS, 201) – Up to 81 on the bump with arm strength.  Projection left in the frame.  Still raw on the mound.  Athletic switch hitter with quick hands and some barrel whip through the zone.  Still raw but showed strength and bat speed with upside.
  • Kolby Crepeau (OF, Clover HS (SC), 2020) - Put together solid rounds of batting practice showcasing his quick hands and strength.  Solid actions defensively on the infield and arm has carry from the outfield.
  • Brandon Davis (SS, RJ Reynolds HS, 2022) - Quick twitch athlete who switch hits.  Currently more polished from the right side with more barrel awareness.  Quick feet and arm defensively.
  • Chase Drinkard (RHP, Jesse Carson HS, 20220) – Strike thrower with 4 distinct pitches.  Pitch-ability over stuff right now.
  • Sam Fligel (C, Providence HS, 2020) - Fluid stroke from the right side hitting a lot of line drives.  Has strength with better than average bat speed.
  • Brock Fowler (OF, East Mecklenburg HS, OF) - Keeps his barrel in the zone with pull pop.  Above average bat speed and barrel awareness.
  • Cole Hart (RHP/C, Mountain Island HS, 2022) – Up to 79 with a quick arm.  Small frame but athleticism is present.   Works with rhythm and flashed an advanced breaking ball
  • Isiah Mack (3B, Hough HS, 2022) - Fluid stroke with loose hands.  Worked gap to gap keeping his barrel in the zone with better than average bat speed.
  • Jalen Palmer-Hill (3B/East Mecklenburg HS, 2021) - Shows pull pop with some quickness to his hands.  Athletic defensively with an accurate arm.
  • Kyle Raynor (2B, Indian Land HS (SC), 2020) - Plays with rhythm on the infield with solid actions and better than average hands.  Gap to gap approach offensively.
  • Logan Rogers (OF/RHP, Carson HS, 2020) - Put together solid rounds of batting practice with a fluid stroke and advanced barrel awareness.  Athletic defensively and the arm has carry.  On the mound touched 80 with early arm side run.  Feel for the zone with 3 pitches.  Breaking ball and change-up are both serviceable now with length to their ceiling.
