SC Preseason All-State North: Quick Hitter - Upper Class Pitchers

On Saturday January 21st PBR of South Carolina was on hand at The Winthrop Ball Park for our Preseason All-State North Event. The event featured players from the 2023-2028 grad classes.

The day started with BP on the field with Trackman collecting ball flight data followed the defensive evaluations followed by laser timed 60.  Then pitchers throwing a controlled bullpen with Trackman collecting data analytics  to finish the day.

Quick Hitters - Upper-Class Pitchers

Killion Bennett, RHP, 2024

5-11 185 pounds, athletic physique with room to gain weight and current strength.  On the mound, had a controlled, slower delivery with a good down-the-mound direction.  Throwing with a maximum velo of 81.9 mph from a high 3/4 slot and a short arm action in the back.  Good feel for a 12/6 shorter breaking CB and a CH with good sinking and fading action.


Hunter Howard, RHP, 2024

6-2 205 pound frame with current strength and still room to grow. Has changed his arm swing in the back by lengthening it out to help time his movements up better.  Shows good arm speed from a H ¾ arm slot with an up-tempo delivery with good intent.  Fastball showed good life up to 88 mph with good extension at an avg. of 6.4 feet.  Threw 2 good breaking balls with a CB up to 75.5 mph and a short breaking SL up to 79.3 mph.  Good feel for a CH as well with good action down in the zone. 


Jesse English, RHP, 2024

6-1 200-pound physical build has a good pace to his delivery and with a significant leg lift. Throws with a longer arm swing in the back and a high 3/4 arm slot.  Fastball reached a top speed of 83.7 mph and had a maximum spin of 2159 rpm.  The slider showed good action to it  and a maximum velocity of 75 mph, with an average spin of 1815 rpm.  Demonstrated an excellent feel for a changeup with a sink and fade to it.  CH spun at 1709 rpm on average and as fast as 79.8 mph.


Matthew Moore, RHP, 2023

6-2 170 pound lean long frame with plenty of room to add strength.  Quick pace to delivery with good direction down the mound.  Throw from a H ¾ arm slot while running his fastball up to 81.5 mph and avg spin of 1990 rpm.  Breaking showed a shorter break to it with a 1/7 break to it.  Breaking ball up to 68.7 mph and an avg spin of 1945 rpm.  Good feel for his changeup up to 74.4 mph and an avg spin at 1758 rpm.


Jeb Britt, RHP, 2024

6-3 180 pound projectable frame.  Quick tempo delivery with a shorter leg lift and good direction.  Has a shorter arm action from a H ¾ slot with some deception.  FB was up to 81.4 mph and an avg spin at 1906 rpm.  CB showed good depth to it while up to 67.2 mph and an avg spin at 1923 rpm.  CH showed good action down in the zone while up to 72.5 mph and an avg spin at 1717 rpm.  


Kaleb Owens, RHP, 2024

6-1 185 pound frame with good strength and athleticism.  Controlled pace delivery with a higher leg lift and good direction down the mound.  Throws from a ¾ arm slot with good extension out front.  FB shows good life to it while up to 81.9 mph and an effective velo of 80.4 mph.  Breaking ball shows good movement while tunneling it well with his FB.  Changeup had good action to it down in the zone with an avg spin of 1318 rpm.
