Team Carolina Trials - Columbia: Catchers Scouting Reports

On Tuesday, July 2nd Prep Baseball of South Carolina hosted trials for Team Carolina at The University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC. The Team Carolina Trials leads to identifying prospects for some of the summer’s biggest invite only events like PB Senior Games, Top Prospect Games, PB JR Future Games, PB SR Future Games and the PB Future Games. The event featured players from the 2025-2028 grad classes.
The event began with A pro-style workout for all the position players followed that included running a laser timed 60 recorded using Swift Technology, BP with TrackMan ball flight analysis, a defensive evaluation, and finished with pitcher bullpens with each pitch tracked by Trackman.

SCOUTING REPORTS (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)
Brayden Borders, Lake View High (SC), 2025
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 5-10, 145-pounds. Long limbed, lanky frame with plenty of room to continue getting stronger
Hit: RHH. Open, relaxed stance Patient but aggressive load with an active lower half throughout swing, stride length can get long at times and throw him out of sync 64.9 mph bat speed with 17 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 84 max exit velocity, averaged 74.7 mph. 284' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-73 mph. Short action, accruate throws to 2nd, more strength/power can be added
Defense: 2.05-2.15 pop times. Good exchange and on time behind the dish, good receiver,
ATH: 21.60 max vertical.
Austin Catledge, Buford (SC), 2026
Positional Profile: C/1B
Body: 6-2, 180-pounds. Solid frame with still more room to add in upper half
Hit: RHH. Strong, balanced stance Levers work in opposite direction creating rubber band effect and turns the barrel over quickly and in a tight window 64.7 mph bat speed with 17 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 85 max exit velocity, averaged 77.0 mph. 280' max distance. Power coming as strength develops
Arm: RH. C-72 mph. INF-77 mph. Good arm strength, H3Q slot, accurate throws
Defense: 2.10-2.26 pop times. Exchange could use a little work, but will become easier and quicker as strength develops
ATH: 7.78 runner in the 60.
Lincoln Hill, Lexington High (SC), 2025
Positional Profile: C/OF
Body: 6-1, 180-pounds. Tall, athletic frame with some strength
Hit: RHH. Upright slightly open with hands high above head Quick, loose hands/wrists create good bat speed and can get ball to jump 70.2 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 89 max exit velocity, averaged 76.4 mph. 309' max distance. Pull side juice
Arm: RH. C-77 mph. OF-83 mph. Short action with abv average arm strength
Defense: 1.90-2.06 pop times. Athletic footwork with good movements
ATH: 28.60 max vertical.
Preston Smith, Batesburg-Leesville (SC), 2026
Positional Profile: C/1B
Body: 6-0, 212-pounds. Strong frame with still room for more
Hit: LHH. Slightly open stance with hands even with ear and elbows pointed down Solid hand/bat speed, good barrel direction with power developing 70.5 mph bat speed with 14 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 90 max exit velocity, averaged 81.1 mph. 336' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-73 mph.
Defense: 2.00-2.19 pop times.
Chance Weathersbee, Fox Creek High (SC), 2025
Positional Profile: C/1B
Body: 5-9, 162-pounds. Wiry frame with some strength in the lower half
Hit: RHH. Open stance with medium leg kick Solid swing with good lower half contribution and some good bat speed, raw pull side power 67.9 mph bat speed with 9 G's of rotational acceleration.
