They haven't played a high school inning yet, but the next freshman class has made some noise throughout the summer and fall as they lay the foundation for the next four years.  The first rankings edition for the Tennessee 2025 class features a modest 50 prospects from the Volunteer State, including three players who have already committed D1 over the summer. Per usual, the freshman class features many two-way players after showcasing skills on both sides of the ball, as their tools will sharpen and become more position specific over the next few years. Two-way Cole Pippenger (Coffee County) leads the pack as the number one overall prospect after showing athleticism, versatility, and lively stuff on the mound. It is still very, very early and the class has plenty of time to develop and expand, but this first look provides recruiters an early glimpse of high end prospects.

Most of the top ten consist of two-way prospects with a heavy emphasis on shortstops (five of top ten) and deep crop of right handed pitchers (four). Currently, there are 22 young arms who have already topped 80+ mph, lead by RHP/C Graham Jones (Daniel Boone) after topping 87 this fall at TN/KY Border Battle. There are 18 young bats who have already hit 88+ exit velo, led by OF/RHP Bleau Kennedy (CAK) after hitting a ball 96.1 mph at TN Underclass Games in July.

As always, the evaluation process is a fluid and ongoing with multiple viewings in order to get the best feel for players abilities. It’s important to note that as players continue their development some show marked improvement at a much more rapid pace. That doesn’t indicate that other players got worse or went backwards, it’s just how player development works. As the years unfold, players make improvements and new prospects pop up on the radar expanding the PBR rankings universe.  In addition to the evaluations of players, our scouts, both those in Tennessee and nationally, have also had multiple discussions with each other to review our individual lists and then make adjustments based on what we've each seen.
