The PBR East Tennessee College Prospect Showcase took place on on Saturday, January 17 in Knoxville and included some impressive performances from the group of players in attendance.  Over the coming days we will feature evaluations from the event by position group.  The following is a look at the group of catchers who were in attendance.

Quinn Smith, 2016, C, R/R, McCallie HS
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect showed very good projectability and set a PBR Tennessee record with 101 mph exit velocity, ran a 4.27 from home to first base, showed explosive bat speed, open setup, smooth load, long stride, good balance, aggressive approach with quick hands, power potential type hitter. Position velocity from behind the plate was 78 mph, pop time consistently 2.0-2.05, showed quick footwork and exchange, quick instincts with a strong athletic build, polished receiving and blocking skills, high-level 2016 prospect.

Dalton Webb,2018, C/INF, Farragut HS
The 6-foot, 160-pound prospect showed good projectability and an athletic build, had an exit velocity of 80 mph, ran a 4.8 home to first time, hits from a  balanced setup, long stride, fair balance, good bat speed, aggressive hitter, has a tendency to have a long path at times. Position velocity time was 66 mph from the INF, 71 mph behind the plate, pop time ranged from 2.1-2.2, had quick instincts, fluid footwork, good athleticism at both positions, young prospect to keep a close eye on.

Wyatt Humphries, 2018, C , R/R, Gibbs HS
The 5-foot-10 , 170-pound prospect showed good projectability and an athletic build, showed good bat speed for age with 83 mph exit velocity, ran a home to first base time of 4.60, hit from an open stance, had a short stride, average balance , good bat speed, level swing with fluid rhythm, gap to gap type hitter with future power potential. Position velocity from behind the plate was 66 mph, pop time ranged from a 2.25-2.33, needs to work on arm strength moving forward, had soft hands and footwork stays mostly online.

Seth Armstrong, 2018, C, R/R, Knoxville Central HS
The 5-foot-9, 165-pound prospect hit with an athletic setup, smooth back load, average bat speed, fair approach, tendency to collapse and swing around the ball at times, line drive type hitter that with a pull approach, exit velocity was 70 mph, ran a 4.65 home to first base time. Position velocity from behind the plate was 66 mph, threw a 2.36 pop time, had a clean exchange , soft hands, fluid footwork, had a good athletic body build, young prospect whose game will continue to develop with physical maturity.
