Game Report: Rossview @ Springfield

On Monday, we headed to Springfield High School for their opening season game against Rossview.  Nice day with some intermittent rain and a strong wind blowing out.  Rossview took full advantage of that wind, getting 3 home runs from 3 different players and an 8-strikeout outing from 2020 LHP Jackson Izatt to win it 11-1.  Read up on standouts below, including 2020 SS Kaleb Vaughn, who stood out with his defense in I/O and delivered a HR from the cleanup spot:

KALEB VAUGHN / SS / 2B / ROSSVIEW, TN / 2020

1-3, HR

SS intrigued with a strong I/O and followed it up with a no doubt home run in his first at bat, has made a jump.  Medium, athletic frame w/ some present lower half strength, projectable.  Has definitely put on some muscle since this evaluator’s last look.  Offensively, hits w/ a slightly open, very slightly crouched stance w/ some hand movement into knee to knee stride and short hand load.  Generates above average bat speed through the zone.  Looking to punish the baseball more then he has in the past.  Up the middle approach w/ natural loft.  Present power to the pull side, chance for power to all fields.  Defensively, stands out with easy arm strength, solid footwork and soft hands.  Was not tested in game, tools to stay on the left side of the infield, actions to stay at SS.
