Memphis Travelers Scout Day Stats

On September 16th, Gagliano Field hosted a Scout Day for the Memphis Travelers organization.  This event included a position player workout, followed by pitchers throwing a 10-15 pitch pen on the game mound. Players were afforded the opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of the PBR Tennessee staff and college coaches in attendance. The following is a look at the top statistical performances from the event.

TOP PITCHING VELOCITIES 

85 – Brayden Matthews, 3B/RHP, Bartlett, 2020
84 – Colton Huntt, 1B/RHP, Chester County, 2020
79 – Jake McCalla, 2B/RHP, Houston, 2020

- Matthews had a strong all-around workout, culminating in a top velocity of 85 and pitching consistently in the 83-85 range.  The 6’0, 175-pounder also showed smooth actions and hands at 3B to go with the most impressive BP of the day w/ consistent hard contact to all fields.

- Brooks paced the hitters, standing out for his exit velocity and his ability to handle pitchers.  The 5’9, 140-pounder also led the way in OF velocity at 79 while showing ability to receive and move well behind the plate.

- Brewer showed off his arm strength in the OF and then moved to the infield to show off his glove and first-step quickness.  Making a diving play during the IF portion of the Scout Day, he shows the ability to profile as an above average defensive 1Bmen.  He also had a solid round of BP, moving the baseball to all fields w/ line drives.

- Austin showed off arm strength and an intriguing glove at SS.  As a defender, he showed soft hands w/ ability to make throws from any arm slot and range to both sides.  Offensively, showed a gap to gap approach w/ lot of line drives.
