Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week: Week 2

Colton Provey
Tennessee Scouting Director

Each week during the high school season, we will be announcing the Mizuno Pitcher and Player of the Week for that particular week. Numerous players across the state  put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on nominations from high school coaches across the state. Thanks to Mizuno for sponsoring both awards this season.

Thanks to the many high school coaches that sent in nominations this week.

New this year will be our Tennessee Diamond Notes that we will release each Tuesday. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Mizuno Pitcher or Player of the Week. Look for that tomorrow.

Let's take a look at the Mizuno Player and Pitcher of the Week for Week 1 (March 21-26):

Tanner Everett RHP / Bledsoe County , TN / 2022

Everett had a very impressive week at both the plate and on the mount, earning him co-player of the week honors. In three games at the plate, Everett went 8-10 (.800 AVG) with three doubles, seven stolen bases, three walks, eight runs scored, with one RBI.

In two appearances on the mound, Everett threw a total of 11.2 IP with 23 SO's while only allowing six hits and one earned run.

Connor Weaks 3B / RHP / Houston, TN / 2022

Weaks had a monster week at the plate, while also contributing on the mound, earning him co-player of the week honors.

Connor hit .421 on the week with 8 hits, including three home runs, three doubles, and 9 RBIs. Had a multi HR game while also coming just a triple shy of the cycle in another game.
