North Tennessee College Prospect Showcase: Outfield Analysis

By Doug Hall
Tennessee Director of Scouting

PBR Tennessee held its inaugural event in the state with the North Tennessee College Prospect Showcase on August 24 at Station Camp High School.  A small group of outfielders were in attendance at the event, but both prospects did things to stand out as Billy Campbell posted the top 60-yard time and Isaac Robertson showed a solid all-around game.

William “Billy” Campbell, OF, R/R, Gallatin HS, 2016
5-foot-6, 140 pound prospect posted a showcase best 6.92 60-yard dash time and 70 tee exit velocity. Defensively showed he can play through the ball. Good routes to the ball. Fluid footwork. Consistent clean exchanges. High 3/4 arm slot with accuracy and online carry. Posted a 77 position velocity. Covers a lot of ground. Offensively starts with a slight open stance. Takes a short stride and stays balanced. Uses hands well. Stays on top of the ball. Line drive, gap potential. Showed opposite field hitting ability. Time in the weight room making strength gains can only improve skill set.

Issac Robertson, OF, R/R, Beech HS, 2016
5-foot-11, 150 pound prospect posted 7.29 60-yard dash and 82 tee exit velocity. Athletic frame, broad shoulders. Corner projectability. Sets up well and plays through. Short, over the top arm action. Accurate with on line carry. Showcased a strong arm with an 84 position velocity. Soft hands, fluid footwork and quick, clean exchange. At the plate has an open stance and high hands. Short stride and slight arm bar. Uses lower half well. Generates some whip during swing, 82 tee exit velocity. Gets good extension with a short swing. Occasional lift in swing. Line drive, pull power.
