There is little rest time for college recruiters across the country, as a talented 2021 class has already begun building itself as a deep, immensely talented group. Players who have barely finished memorizing their first high school class schedules are being spoken about in coaching circles as future impact players in college and beyond. With the release of PBR’s initial 2021 rankings, On the Hunt takes a look at eight of the top players who demonstrate a great deal of upside. Still very young, each player exhibits a strong foundation which will help as they strive to get better. Included in the list are players from Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, and Tennessee.

Kavares Tears OF / LHP / Columbia Academy, TN / 2021

Mixed in with prospects, mostly, two years older, Tears stole the show during batting practice at the Future Games in August. Physically advance with a strong lower-half, Kavares showed off plus power from the left side lifting balls over the right field fence with relative ease. Standing 5-foot-10, 205-pounds, Tears stands tall in the box with narrow feet while letting his hands sway loosely by his back shoulder. With a toe tap, he strides out long while his hands work freely down and back before striking the ball on an uphill plane with a high, relaxed, single-handed finish. Tears shows an advanced ability to backspin balls while creating an upward launch angle, that, combined with his physical frame, allow him to drive balls out of the park. Tears looks more athletic than his 7.81 60-yard dash time leads on, and he has a loose arm stroke that delivers accurate throws from the outfield at 82 mph. Overall, his power from the left side should have recruiters locked in on him for the next few years.
