May 4, 2019
On Thursday, we headed to Cornersville High School as they hosted the 2nd round of the District 8A tournament, involving two winners bracket games. In game 1, the hosts defeated Cascade 2-0. In game 2, Eagleville secured a 6-0 win over Moore County. Read up on standouts below:
GRAHAM DUKE / RHP / 3B / CORNERSVILLE, TN / 2019FB (81-85), CB (69-72), CH (74-75) - 6.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 12 K - 2-2, BB Righty struck out 12, thanks primarily to his tight CB that elicited 10 swing and misses on 13 swings. Medium, sturdy frame w/ present lower half strength, close to mature frame. Pitches from a full wind-up into H ¾ release from the middle of the rubber. Bit of a rock and fire style delivery. Some deception with the glove. Quick arm w/ some effort in the throw. Straight FB showed occasional short arm-side run. Tight medium downer CB is his go-to pitch. Above average offering w/ tight rotation, slightly above average depth. Put-away pitch at the next level. Flashes ability to throw it for a strike, understands how to bury it. Mixed in a couple CHs, slowed his body down once, shows arm-speed w/ fade and sink. Has the makings of an average or better pitch, just needs to get more comfortable throwing it. Around the zone w/ his 3-pitch mix. Projects to command. Has some tools offensively, showing some bat speed and an ability to get on time w/ some barrel feel, but future is on the mound.
