PLUS: Game Report: Brentwood Academy @ Lipscomb Academy

On Wednesday, we head to Dugan Field, the home of the Lipscomb University Bisons, for a tilt between Brentwood Academy and Lipscomb Academy. As typically happens on college fields, both teams elevated their games and the result was a well-played game culminating in a 3-1 win for Brentwood Academy in 12 innings. Both catchers had a hand in keeping this game scoreless until the 12th, as both stood out for their ability to box the baseball and limit base advancement. Read up on a standouts below:

Medium, athletic frame w/ high-waist, well-proportioned lean strength throughout, super projectable. Has just scratched the surface of his frame potential. Pitches from a full wind-up into ¾ to L ¾ release from the third base side of the rubber. Simple, repeatable delivery. Super quick, loose arm. Angle. Easy velocity. FB shows consistent arm side run. Held 85-87 velocity through 6 innings before pitching closer to 82-84, touching 85 in the 7th and 8th. Tight medium downer CB w/ depth. Occasional slurve. Put-away pitch. CH w/ arm-speed, short fade and sink. Flashed above average. Pounded the zone early, began to lose pitches to his arm-side as he got deeper into his outing. Strike-thrower with his 3-pitch mix, projects to command as body continues to fill out. Generated 18 swing and misses on 51 swings (35 %). Offensively, showed a gap to gap approach w/ lot of line drives and athleticism to run a 4.44 down the line from the left side. |
