PLUS: Game Report: Friendship Christian v CAK

On Thursday, we headed to Friendship Christian to see the first 2 games of a best of 3 series for the hosts against CAK.  CAK rode complete games from Kentucky commit Jacob Tate and East Tennessee State commit Hunter Loyd to sweep the day.  Both teams have been seen before (including CAK last week).  Read up on players such as Loyd, who delivered a complete game 1-hitter:

HUNTER LOYD / RHP / OF / CAK, TN / 2019

FB (87-91, T92), SL (78-81), CH (80-83)

-          7 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K

East Tennessee State commit was dominant from the 2nd inning on, finding his release point and attacking the zone w/ 3 pitches.  Medium, athletic frame w/ high-waist, some well-proportioned lean strength, projectable.  Pitches from a full wind-up into ¾ to H ¾ release from the first base side of the rubber.  Glove tap and go type.  Lot of moving parts in delivery, but athletic with ability to get arm on time.  Just needs reps to do it consistently, especially early on in the game.  Straight FB shows occasional short arm-side run.  ¾ tilt SL w/ proper shape and rotation, flashes above average w/ late bite.  CH w/ arm-speed, fade and sink.  Was a true swing and miss pitch on this day w/ FB arm-speed.  Around the zone, showed advanced feel for his secondary stuff (24 of 28 for strikes).  More control than command with the FB.  Projects to command.  Generated 18 swing and misses on 49 swings.
