PLUS: Game Report: Ravenwood @ Centennial
April 20, 2019
On Monday, we headed to Centennial High School for their district matchup with Ravenwood. Centennial put up 3 unearned runs in in the 3rd and that ended up being the difference, as they won 3-2. In a matchup where both starters threw complete games, this was a quick, well-pitched game with just a few opportunities for both teams to score. Read up on pitchers such as 2020 RHP Shane Craig, who struck out 11 in a 6-inning complete game:

FB (83-85, T86), SL (70-73), CH (77) - 1-2, BB - 6 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 11 K Junior righty isn’t far off from pitching in a collegiate bullpen now, pitching primarily off an intriguing 2-pitch mix where both flash above average. Medium, athletic frame w/ some present lower half strength, super projectable, has just scratched the surface of his frame potential. Pitches from a full wind-up into L 3/4, almost side-arm release from the first base side of the rubber. Angle, extremely difficult at bat for a RHH, almost appears to throw behind them at times. Simple, repeatable delivery w/ low effort throw. FB flashes above average arm-side run and sink, straightens out at times. Got stronger as the game went along, including striking out the last 6 hitters he faced and touching 85 on his 87th pitch, his final pitch, of the game. Has an idea of how to use his life to extend the arm-side corner portion of the plate. Tight ¾ tilt SL is a true put-away pitch. Advanced feel for the offering, 27 of 36 for strikes while generating 7 swing and misses on 14 swings on the pitch. Flashes late bite. Mixed in a single CH w/ short fade. Efficient strike-thrower, 68 of 87 for strikes. Flashes command, has an idea of how to pitch to both sides of the plate. Projects to command. Offensively, picked up a hit in game, flashing ability to get lower half involved and hips through the baseball w/ intriguing bat speed, has shown intriguing defensive tools at SS in previous looks.
