PLUS: Tourney Report: 11-AAA

On Sunday and Tuesday, we were on site for the district 11-AAA tournament, taking in 4 games on Sunday and a game plus 2 innings of the conclusion of the Ravenwood vs. Summit game on Tuesday.  Every team besides Independence had been seen earlier this year, so their writeups will be shorter.  Every player that had been written up previously has had the district tourney video added to their profiles even if they are not written up below, resulting in over 50 videos added to profiles from this event.  Read up on players such as 2019 RHP's Jett Jackson (Purdue) and Solomon Washington (Tennessee Tech) who touched 90 or better for the games we attended and 2020 OF Robert Hassell (Vanderbilt), who continued to do Robert Hassell things as he doubled and homered as they went on to win the tournament:

ROBERT HASSELL III / OF / LHP / INDEPENDENCE, TN / 2020

2-3, 2B, HR, IBB

Vanderbilt commit picked up a double and homer in his first 2 at-bats, was robbed of extra bases in his 3rd at bat and then picked up a well-earned intentional walk.  Medium, athletic frame w/ some well-proportioned lean strength, projectable.  Has just scratched the surface of his frame potential.  Offensively, hits w/ a straight on, crouched stance w/ short hand rhythm into a big of a knee to knee short leg kick and short hand load.  Generates premium bat speed through the zone.  Still head with simple, repeatable swing projects him to hit for significant average.  Easy, relaxed swing w/ extension through the zone.  Short to the ball.  All fields power w/ chance for significant pull power.  Ball jumps off the barrel, makes a different sound off of his bat.  Was not tested defensively in CF.
