Player Spotlight: Gallatin 2017 C Bailey Russell

By Doug Hall
Tennessee Director of Scouting

Bailey Russell, C, R/R, Gallatin HS, 2017

At 6-foot-1, 175-pounds Russell has the frame and tools that equal high projectability. Though he is just a rising sophomore, he has made a successful transition to the high school level.   He has a plus arm with a high, tight 3/4 arm slot. His exchange is clean and quick, and with continued work on his footwork and receiving skills Russell will become a polished defensive catcher.

At the plate Russell has shown power to all fields, especially to the pull side.   While his swing is still a little long, he has the ability to consistently make solid contact and put the ball in play.  The class of 2017 prospect should project highly at the next level with continued refinement to his overall game.
