The 2021 high school baseball season is quickly approaching and as usual, excitement abounds throughout the state. That excitement may be at an all-time high entering this high school season as the 2020 high school baseball season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season during an offseason unlike any other and as always, there are some very talented players and teams across Tennessee.
Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Murfreesboro at the TSSAA Spring Fling state championships, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams.
We start diving into the Preseason Power 25 Rankings, highlighting some of the deepest clubs across the state. Although we could have done 40+ clubs with so many talented teams getting tuned up for the 2021 season, we can only rank 25 and this list will continue to change as the season plays out on the field. There will be teams not on the list that will be battling for a state championship come late May, so take it for what it's worth, as no championships have ever been won on paper.
*Please note that all information is based on team preview questionnaires that were sent out and returned by the participating high school coaches.
High School: Trinity Christian Academy

Classification: TSSAA D2 A-District 5
Top Returning Players:
2023 LHP Griffin Graves (Auburn Commit)
2022 LHP/OF Jake Wilson (MTSU Commit)
2021 Prospects:
2021 C/OF Zachary Tims (Uncommitted)
2021 LHP/OF Griffin Orr (Uncommitted)
2022/Underclass Prospects:
2023 LHP Griffin Graves (Auburn Commit)
2022 LHP/OF Jake Wilson (MTSU Commit)
Outlook:
The Lions were dominant in class A with state runner up in 2019 and another state appearance in 2018, and now they'll look to complete their first full season in D2-A classification. There certainly won't be a shortage of pitching in the transition with four skilled arms. '23 LHP Griffin Graves (Auburn) can pitch it, commanding the zone with mid 80s FB and sharp SL. '22 RHP Brady Robertson is coming off a fall knee injury, but he hasn't missed a beat in his return. Robertson throws a sizzling FB in upper 80s, which could creep into the 90s this Spring, using his long lean frame to create great leverage. '22 LHP/OF Jake Wilson (MTSU) had a great showing at Future Games in August as a two-way with excellent feel for spin with mid to upper 80s FB and biting breaking ball to go with some left side pop. '22 1B/LHP Harrison Freeman is an emerging two-way prospect with good physicality and barrel control plus some bop from left side. Like Wilson, Freeman can really spin the baseball with low to mid 80s FB and a sweeping SL that is very tough on LHH. Up the middle, '22 SS Parker Smith and '22 2B Will Allen Smith will be very capable defenders and consistent offensive producers. Mix in seniors C/OF Zachary Tims and LHP/OF Griffin Orr, who will provide the veteran presence to help guide this team back to Murfreesboro. '22 OF/3B Needham Goodwin will be another to keep an eye on this Spring as another bat that will help produce run support for the pitching staff. The Lions will be the new kids on the block but the pitching caliber and depth should make them a tough game for any opposing teams.
Best of luck this season!
